Well almost all of them. Many people have fallen victim to the enticing tricks used to scam beginners on the internet. They end up losing colossal amounts of money on the false promise that they will strike instant riches in a short while. It is important to understand that most of the so called online marketing gurus are cheats who have perfected techniques used to make people believe they will solve their financial woes.
One very common method is to promise that with affiliate membership, registered members stand to gain thousands of dollars daily. One is asked to pay money and start referring other users to websites. There are even photographs of checks and payments through online methods. This is nothing but a scam well calculated to convince that similar results would be replicated in your account. The fact is that this is the last you will hear of your membership.
Other means used to get money from newbies is to promise instant riches if online research is conducted. The replies given are that there will be communication once jobs are available. You can wait for job opportunities for days on end.
The other strategy is to request that the mail and telephone contacts be availed during registration. Soon after the details are given, the new members start receiving junk mails. These can be as many as several hundreds per day. They will ask that you take advantage of discount sales, free registration at marriage service sites and job offers.
Be careful when you are offered some e-books t0 assist in helping you to launch a career online. The expensive courses are no more than junk information. Also avoid the get rich schemes that will even provide fake information and testimonials. It is the easiest way to blow your hard earned money.
It is advisable to establish the history of the company and what it deals with. You should read testimonials and reviews with a grain of salt and treat everything with skepticism. The fact is that most internet marketing gurus are cheats who are good at exploiting human psychology and the desire to find employment and business opportunities.

Scammer is a harsh word but I do agree many Internet Marketing “Gurus” push the envelope too often. There’s a thin line between extreme marketing tactics and deceptive advertising. Many marketers, both online and off, cross that line.

Agreed @Brian, scammer is a harsh word, but sometimes you do have to call a spade a spade. When deceptive advertising rakes in money and the buyer gets absolutely nothing out of it, it is a scam. Some IM “gurus” uses extreme marketing tactics, that is all right, since it is very competitive out there and you have to pull all kind of crazy stunts to get your products noticed. But if one does not honor their guarantees or knowingly puts out a product that is worthless, they may have already crossed that thin line.

Although I’m yet to cross the Rubicon, some Affiliate marketing strategies like the ‘pop up under’ that refuses more than once to allow one to leave a site, notwithstanding over use of ‘Pop Up Dominion’ can deter reasons to revisit particular sites.
Albeit I wonder if Affiliate marketeers ought to consider their exchange capital strategies as much like a restauranteur trying to promote sales of a new menu item, such as Karen Post’s advice in how
“..a good tease convert, engage and conqueror customers” ?

It’s true, you really need to do your research. When I first started online I was victim to one such ‘guru’ who even offered a “100% money back guarantee” for a product that severely outdated and mostly useless. I never did get my money back. Lesson learned!
