How to remove ClockworkMod recovery image and replace it with your stock recovery image?
If you want to remove the Clockwordmod recovery image and replace it with a custom
recovery image or the stock recovery image., follow these steps
Download the recovery.img here
The process
- 1. Download the recovery.img image file.
2. Transfer it to a sd card. Make sure it is in the root directory and not inside any folder.
3. Now download Terminal Emulator or ConnectBOT (my preference) from the Android Market.
4. Run ConnectBOT. If you are using ConnectBOT , create a connection to “localhost” and a terminal should open.
5. In the terminal type “su” and press enter.
6. If you have superuser installed, it will popup and ask you to provide permission to ConnectBOT, do it.
7. If you use Terminal Emulator instead, run it and type su, if Superuser pops up, give it permission.
8. Now in the next line type
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
- 9. The phone may seem to hang for few minutes and than you should see the command prompt in the next line.
10. Type
exit
- 11. Turn the device off.
12. Now while turning on try to enter into recovery mode again, you should be in your stock recovery mode.
NOTE: To bring up the keyboard in the terminal emulator or ConnectBOT press the menu key (it is different for each device) or tap on the screen.
Another way of doing this
I am assuming you have Android SDK installed on your computer
1. Open a terminal
2. Type “adb shell”
3. Type “su”
4. Type “mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system” [the mtdblock will be different for other devices, for Spice, the system is loaded on mtdblock1]
5. Type “chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image” [if flash_image is not on your device, this will not work]
6. Reboot your phone.
7. Disconnect your phone, put the sd card with the recovery.img , start it and connect it again to your computer.
8. Open the terminal again and type “adb shell”
9. Type “su”
10. Type “flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img”
I do not know, how you do this under windows, but I think you will have to download Android SDK for windows, than download the SDK kits (it is automatic) and than go to command prompt and try it.
I know it is difficult, but it is fun and once you start doing this, you will see that you have unprecedented level of control over your device. This is joy of Android.

This is because /system partition is not loaded in rw mode. Seems like we have to go the adb way.

Hi,

I did not find any recovery options after decrypting the image. I left it that way to use the image as a last ditch effort to unbrick if a wrong rom screws everything up. Right now am working on a ROM that does not require clockworkmod etc to work. It is auto installable. You put the rom in a sd card, put the sd card in the spice tab and switch it on. It will install itself. Problem is spice is running a 7227 cpu on a board meant for 7627.

Guys, I have almost completed compiling a new ROM for the Spice TAB, but you have got to help me here, I need the drivers for the tab. If you have already rooted your spice tab, upload the following files for me.
You should find those files in the root directory of your device
init.rc
init.goldfish.rc
deafult.prop
init.emmrc.rc
There should be directory called
sbin
I need everything from sbin.
The drivers can be found in
/lib/modules/
so all files from that directory, in fact copy the whole /lib directory for me.
Remember files from the root directory only. I do not need any other files.

The drivers are inside your tab. I posted the instructions about how to access and copy them. If you can do that I will have the ROM ready, real fast.

ThSbin and the .rc files are ok. But you got the wrong lib directory. The SPice MI 720 hardware specific drivers are inside /lib. Can you copy the “lib” directory that is in the root directory. You have to be rooted to access it, and than use root explorer. That lib directory should have a “modules” directory inside which there should be .ko or .so files. Those are the drivers. By the way, thank you for your effort.

Hi,
I have a problem and I have checked everywhere on the internet, but can’t find a solution. Can anyone here please help me?
I have a san fransisco zte blade generation1. I wanted to update android, so I followed the instructions on http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=ZTE_Blade
I’ve put a zip file gen to gen on my sd card, put it in my phone and then went into recovery mode. I wanted to install the zip file, but the installation aborted and since then I can’t get out of clockwordmod recovery mode :s I clicked factory reset, I tried to hard reset (with volume down, power key), I took everything out… It always starts up in clockwork
